The common treatment for nephritis syndrome is hormones ,but there are side effects of hormones and the disease relapse again and again. Why hormones cannot cure nephritis syndrome ?

Long term and beyond physical dosage of glucocorticoid can lead to the metabolic disorders of water,salt,sugar,protein and fat,causing adrenocortical hyperfunction. The symptoms are central obesity causing obstruction of calcium adsorption and rarefaction of bone,seriously spontaneous fracture can be caused.

Glucocorticoid can reduce the defence capability to disease,and the weak defensive capability is good for the growth and spread of bacteria,inducing or aggravating infections.

Glucocorticoid can promote the protein decomposition,put off the formation of granuloma,prevent trauma,operational cuts and ulcer healing.

Glucocorticoid has the function of anti growth hormones. If it is used in children for long,bone growth will be inhibited in children and protein synthesis. It affects the growing development and causes fetal malformation in pregnant women.

After long use of glucocorticoid treatment,if the dosage are reduced too fast or drug withdrawal suddenly when the symptoms are controlled,the original symptoms will come up again quickly or aggravate,which is known as rebound phenomenon. And some new symptoms such as myalgia,muscle rigidity,joint pain and so on may occur ,which is known as abstinence sydrome.
